Jurrien Oliver is a young Australian violinist who began learning the violin at the age of five and a half. Within a year he was accepted into the Rising Stars program tailored for musically-gifted children at Sydney Conservatorium of music. He studied with Stuart Johnson and received his further training from Dr. Evgeny Sorkin, achieving his AMuSa (Diploma) at the age of 10 from the Australian Music Examination Board. In the following year, Jurrien completed his LMuSa (Licentiate) with Distinction, a qualification attained by only few. Jurrien was also a scholar at the program and gained wealth of solo and chamber music performance experiences through it. In 2022, he reached the semifinals in Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra Secondary Schools Concerto Competition in NSW and was highly commended by the adjudicators. Currently, Jurrien is studying under the tutelage of Angelo Xiang Yu, a member of the Shanghai Quartet and a faculty resident at Juilliard in Tianjin. Over the summer of 2024, Jurrien attended the intensive Summer Orchestral Program at New England Conservatory in Boston and performed in Jordan hall with conductor Sameer Patel. Notably, he was also selected to receive a masterclass from Noah-Bendix Balgley, a First Concertmaster of the Berliner Philharmoniker.
